Get Your Keys Duplicated

There is a lot of talk in the world about keys and locks, but not enough about protecting yourself from the dangers of losing your keys. Having a backup key is an important part of this protection because it allows you to keep yourself safe even if something happens to your primary set of keys.

When I first started my Locksmith business, Mr. McPick Locksmith, I didn’t think too much about making sure that each customer had a spare set of keys handy. I generally did the job I was asked to do and went on my way. Over the years, I have learned through my customers, and from firsthand experience, just how important asking a simple question like “when did you have your last spare key made?” could be. Often, we overlook the details until it is too late. I quickly adapted this question with nearly every customer. Since making a spare key or duplicating key fobs is generally a much easier and more cost-effective task then providing an emergency lockout service.

After working with many different people over the years and helping countless customer out when they locked themselves out or lost their keys while traveling abroad, I have come to realize that there are some simple steps we can all take now so that we don’t have to worry later on down the road! I hope that some of these tips and recommendations may help you as well.

An emergency backup key is a duplicate key that you make sure is available to you in case you lose or break your primary set of keys.

An emergency backup key is a duplicate key that you make sure is available to you in case you lose or break your primary set of keys. If you’re not able to get into your home, this backup can come in handy.

Backup keys are also useful if you’re going out of town and want someone else to be able to access your property while they’re looking after it on your behalf. They may need access in an emergency situation, such as when there is a fire or flood (or another natural disaster).

More often than not, many of us forget about the importance of having your keys duplicated until we are put in a situation that requires it. As a professional locksmith, we highly suggest ensuring you’re never in a situation where you are locked out due to a misplaced key or if your key breaks. We have seen these situations time and time again, which could have easily been prevented if a duplicate key was made in advance, saving a lot of time, stress, and money.

Since you are still in possession of a set of keys, it would be really bad if something were to happen to those primary keys.

If you’re like me, you’ve got multiple sets of keys. They could be in your wallet or tucked away somewhere safe, or maybe even locked in the car when you get home. In any case, if something were to happen to one of your primary sets of keys, whether it’s lost or stolen or accidentally flushed down the toilet (don’t ask), then it would be really bad because now there are only three other people who have access to my house and car and everything else I own!

But don’t worry: there are several ways that this can be fixed. First off, you could always call a locksmith. They’ll come out when we need them most—usually during those times when we’re locked out of our cars—and they’ll make sure everything is okay again. Secondly, we can always get another set of keys made from scratch so no one else has access besides ourselves anyway; thirdly and finally…

Don’t Wait for an Emergency Situation to Come up Before you Get That Last Key Made.

If you’ve ever lost your primary set of keys, you know how stressful it can be. You need a way to get into your home, office or vehicle but aren’t sure if there’s a spare hidden somewhere or if someone else has a spare that they’ll be able to get to quickly to let you back in. Here are some things to keep in mind about getting the last key made:

    • Don’t wait for an emergency situation to come up before getting that last key made. If anything happens that makes it necessary for someone else to have access to your home, then you’ll be glad that person has another way to get in, especially in the event of an emergency.

    • Make sure the locksmith or company making your new keys knows exactly what kind of lock they’re working with. This can prevent making duplicate copies without them being useless.

    • Be sure that the locksmith you are using to duplicate your keys is licensed, bonded and insured. Finding a trustworthy person to create a set of keys for your home, business or automobile is crucial. For obvious security reasons, this is just as important and ensuring your locks work and should not be overlooked.
